Our body needs iron to help transport oxygen throughout the body. The body’s iron store relies on adequate dietary intake and absorption to counter daily usage and blood loss. Low iron level will result in various symptoms, such as tiredness, mood changes and muscle fatigue. If you have low iron level, your GP may recommend oral iron supplements to replenish the iron store.

Whitehorse Medical Centre also offers intravenous iron infusion if you cannot tolerate the side effects of oral iron supplements or if your iron store is severely low.

Discuss with your GP if you are concerned about your iron level, for more information about the benefits and side effects of intravenous iron infusion and if the infusion is right for you. An iron infusion will take about 60 minutes, including the infusion time and a period of monitoring following the infusion. Please contact us to discuss costs of an iron infusion.
