Flu Clinics for 2026 are now open for bookings
The Department of Health 2026 flu season advice is below.
Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over, but only the categories below are eligible for free influenza vaccines under the National Immunisation Program (NIP):
- ages 6 months to less than 5 years
- pregnant women (during any stage of pregnancy)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and older
- ages 65 years and above
- people who have certain medical conditions which increase the risk of influenza disease complications (cardiac disease, chronic respiratory conditions, chronic neurological conditions, immunocompromising conditions, diabetes and other metabolic disorders, chronic kidney disease, haematological disorders, and children aged 6 months to 10 years taking long-term aspirin therapy).
Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for everyone from mid-April onwards to be protected for the peak influenza season, which is typically June to September.
If you have your flu vaccine as part of a normal consultation with your regular doctor, normal consultation fees will apply.
If you get your flu vaccine during a flu clinic at Whitehorse Medical Centre the General Practitioners have agreed to direct bill Medicare for those that have an valid Medicare card. If you do not hold a valid Medicare card consult fees apply.
If you are not eligible for a free Government flu vaccine, the vaccine will cost $20.
Flu clinics run on selected Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please contact us for more information or to book an appointment.

- FluMist: a nasal influenza vaccine for 2-17 years of age.
- Fluad: Adjuvanted or high-dose inactivated (injectable) influenza vaccine from 50 years of age
